Our Practice

Dr. Raul Alderete, Optometrist

Dr. Alderete graduated from the Southern California College of Optometry and returned 'back home' to Colorado. He spent a year of practice in binocular vision development and then turned his efforts to special contact lens fitting and fabrication. He's been a clinical researcher for Bausch & Lomb, Multioptics, and Barnes-Hind Hydrocurve. 'A few' years ago, he was recognized by the Colorado Optometric Association as the 'Young Optometrist of the Year.' He was on staff at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital, and served nine years on The Colorado State Board of Optometry. He has testified to the US. Federal Trade Commission and to the Colorado State Legislature on vision care policy. He has been interviewed by KUSA, KTVD, KUBD, KOA, KHOW, KBNO and the Denver Post. He has been consulted by the Offices of the Attorney General, the District Attorney, the US Men's Alpine Ski Team, and the US Olympic Skeet and Trap Shooting Team. Dr. Alderete has continued his post-graduate training at Pacific University and Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He has served as an adjunct faculty member for the University of Houston College of Optometry. He is a proctor for The National Board of Optometric Examiners. In 2006 Dr Alderete was on staff at the 460th Medical Group Buckley Air Force Base. He has donated his services providing vision care in Central America, Mexico and locally. His passions are people, music, and baseball (obviously), but don't get him started .... Dr. Alderete succeeds Dr. C.E. Johnson, who succeeded Dr. Newton Sharpe, who started THIS practice in 1926! Our philosophy is to be progressive in vision care and, through education, to have our patients participate in the personal decisions to preserve, improve and enjoy their precious gift of sight.
